Maker Faire Austin

Updated: Jun 22, 2019

On May 4th, 2019, MakerFaire Austin was held in the Palmer Events Center. MakerFaire is a place to "celebrate arts, crafts, engineering, science projects and the Do-It-Yourself mindset". I helped MathHappens share the works of Karen Uhlenbenk, Mary Boole, and Marjorie Rice. Karen Uhlenbenk worked with Voronoi patterns, Marjorie Rice discovered tessellating pentagons, and Mary Boole worked with curve stitching.

I focused on helping guests interact with the tessellating shapes. Small children completed puzzles. Others colored their own pieces to take home. Some even created their own designs using the tessellating shapes.
